The Dr. Haider Abdul Shafi Center for Culture and Development held a dialogue session to discuss a recently issued working paper titled "The Reality and Challenges of Youth in Palestinian Society." The session took place at its headquarters in Gaza City and was attended by a group of youth associated with the center.

The meeting began with remarks by Mr. Mohsen Abu Ramadan, the center's director, who spoke about the center as a civil and developmental institution that focuses on youth. He aimed to embody the legacy of Dr. Haider Abdul Shafi as a symbol of integrity, transparency, and national unity, while also promoting civic values among youth.

He emphasized that the center has contributed to various political and social activities for youth, including general and local elections, advocating for lowering the candidacy age, and ensuring student council elections. He stressed that youth constitute the main force for societal change.

The working paper presented by youth activist Ms. Ghaida Al-Shawa was then discussed. She reviewed the reality of Palestinian youth, addressing their economic and educational conditions through statistics, given that youth make up one-fifth of Palestinian society.

She pointed out social problems resulting from poverty and unemployment, such as disengagement, self-isolation, and migration. She also discussed the main challenges and obstacles facing Palestinian youth in general, especially those in Gaza. Additionally, she highlighted demands such as empowering youth through development, enhancing their participation and representation in Palestinian institutions, enabling them to improve their conditions in society. She emphasized the importance of expanding the margin of freedom, especially freedom of opinion and expression, guaranteed by law.
